The Amazing Mr. Tom being stalked by his daughter Stash.
Mr. Tom is a formerly feral cat. He showed up as a fully mature feral tom cat, shortly before I started doing TNR (Trap, Neuter, and Return). He didn’t bolt like the other ferals when I came outside. He walked away confidently. He wouldn’t let near him, but when other toms came around to fight over his food we had an agreement. I would stand watch on the porch so he could eat in peace a couple of feet away.
It took six years for him to let me touch him at all. After that it only took a couple of weeks for us to become best buddies. The timing couldn’t have been more perfect. He seemed to have a cold, and I was able to take him to the vet with no problem. Turned out he needed serious dental work.
Sandra Dalton is a fine art photographer focusing on portraiture and pictures that tell a story. She is best known for her portraits of feral and rescue cats. Growing up on the outskirts of a few metropolitan areas, she has chosen to live in the mountains for most of her adult life. Sandra started out as a writer. Raised by a photographer, she spent her early years in front of the lens, and only began to delve into photography in her 30’s. She has had a love for, and natural connection with, animals since before she could talk. Her work reveals both her love of storytelling and her love of animals.
